Popularly known as ‘danmuji’ in South Korea, Takuan is a tangy pickle prepared from dried daikon radish. It is thinly sliced and served as a side dish with meals with other varieties of pickles and even consumed as a snack with tea. Its detoxifying properties offer numerous health benefits and its juice helps indigestion. It Is usually washed before slicing to remove extra salt and often used in the famous Korean dish of jajangmyeon.
