Caramelized black bean sauce from South Korea used in various Asian recipes.
Chunjang – the Korean version of black bean sauce, is made by fermenting salty soybeans and adding caramel to reduce its natural bitterness, creating a sweet umami taste. It is a key ingredient used to make the famous Jajangmyeon (Korean noodle dish) and also can be used in many baked, grilled or steamed recipes of meat and vegetables.
