Description
Caramelized black bean paste made in South Korea used in various Asian recipes.
Korean bean paste is similar to Japanese miso, which is a fermented food representing both Korea and Japan, but they are actually different.
Chunjang – the Korean version of black bean paste or sauce, is made by fermenting salty soybeans and adding caramel to reduce its natural bitterness, creating a sweet umami taste. It is a core ingredient used to make the famous Jajangmyeon (Korean noodle dish) and also be used in the marinade, as a dipping sauce, or as fillings for many Asian desserts.
